MAX485 TTL to RS485 module converter converts the TTL signal to RS-485 for long-distance communication. This is a simple to use the device, with microcontrollers UART to create a bidirectional RS485 network. This converter sends and receives data using the RS-485 network from Arduino or the microcontroller. Similar to Serial TTL and RS-232, the RS485 transfers data between microcontrollers and devices but with extra features. RS 485 provides serial communication up to 32 devices at a time through the same data line over 1.2km. As it can be operated in a noisy environment, it is used in industrial fields. MAX485 TTL to RS485 module supports up to 10 MBIT/sec, through the same data line over a cable length distance of 1.2km. But as the distance goes up maximum data rate goes down.
RS485 module takes care of converting the electrical signal between TTL and differential signal used by RS-485. MAX485 module is a high data rate of erroneous prone communication over a long distance. As it offers low power, and slew rate limited transceiver makes it is suitable for digital communication networks with EIA-485 standards. This module works on a single 5v power supply at a rated current of 300 μA.
This module limits short circuit current, as a result, the driver output placed in a high impedance state through the thermal shutdown circuit. The input receiver provides a safe fail feature that guarantees logic high output if the input is an open circuit. This module also offers anti-interference features making it suitable for long-distance transmission.
