The 74HC157 designed as a quad 2-input multiplexer. It consists of four similar multiplexers inside it and hence known as Quad package 2-Input Multiplexer. Meanwhile, this IC comes with select (S) and enables E inputs. A HIGH on S selects data source 1, a LOW data source 0. And also HIGH on E forces all the outputs (1Y to 4Y) LOW. Inputs include clamp diodes. This allows the use of current limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages in excess of VCC.This device widely used for moving data from two groups of registers to four common output buses. Meanwhile, the state of the Select input determines the particular register from which the data comes. They can also be used as function generators. The 74HC157 manufactured in 16 Pin Quad 2-Input Multiplexer IC Operating at a voltage range of 2V to 6V. It offers a low Input current of 1uA and high noise immunity. It selects 4 bits of data from two sources under the control of a common data select input (S).
