Nowadays the electronic devices are becoming compact, flexible, and cheap that are capable of doing more function as compared to their predecessors. A Microcontroller was introduced as a new innovation in the electronics industry. Designed with the purpose of making our tasks easier, with minimum effort, and gives maximum output.
Arduino Leonardo is an open-source based on the precise Microchip ATmega328P developed by Arduino. cc. The current version of Arduino Leonardo comes with a USB interface, 23 digital I/O pins, 12 analogue pins, an ICSP header, 16 MHz ceramic resonators, a power jack, and a reset button. And an Atmega328 microcontroller is used to connect with external electronics circuits. Out of 23 I/O ports, 7 pins were used for PWM output. Each pin operates at a voltage of 5V providing a maximum of 40mA. Thus Leonardo differs from all older versions of Arduino boards with a user-programmable ATmega32U4 AVR microcontroller with built-in USB functionality. As a result, eliminates the need for a secondary processor.
This board comes with everything needed to support the microcontroller. Simply connects to a computer with a Micro USB cable. Or power it with an AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. Atmega32u4 supports UART TTL (5V) Serial communication via its 0 (RX) and 1 (TX) pins. Hence 32u4 connects to a computer via a virtual serial COM port and allows serial communication. In addition to supporting a virtual (CDC) serial/COM port interface, it can appear to a connected computer as a mouse and keyboard. Atmega32u4 microcontroller features a 32 kB flash memory (4 KB used by the bootloader), 2.5 KB SRAM and 1 KB EEPROM. Moreover, this microcontroller is programmable with the Arduino IDE common to all our boards.
