TSOP comes from standard IR remote control receiver series, capable of supporting all major transmission codes. IR receiver or TSOP receiver senses the IR pulses and converts them into electrical signals. Each TSOP or IR receiver operates at a specific frequency indicates that it detects IR switching ON or OFF at this specific frequency. The output of the TSOP IR receiver is active low and it gives +5V in an off state. When an IR wave from a source with a centre frequency of 38 kHz incident on it, the output switches to low. Else output remains HIGH. This IR sensor module consists of an integrated PIN diode and a preamplifier and a bandpass filter in a single package.
This versatile device sensor receives the infrared pulses from the transmitter and directs according to the function of the device. This IR receiver designed with a black case will prevent the sunlight effect and lights on the photodiode present in the TSOP. This TSOP series receives only 38Khz IR signals. The sensor operates at a voltage of 5V and consumes around 5mA to operate.
Photodiode detects the IR rays and passes this amplified signal through the bandpass filter. A bandpass filter, with an integrator stage and automatic gain control, suppresses certain disturbances such as lights coming from sunlight, fluorescent lamps, etc. These disturbances may cause undesirable output even when the source is not transmitting IR signals. Moreover, all these remotes will work with a frequency of 38kHz. Thus it can pick up any IR signals process them and provide the output on pin 3.
