The ADMP401 was designed as a high quality, low cost, low power analogue output bottom-ported omnidirectional MEMS microphone. This module comes with a MEMS microphone element, an impedance converter, and an output amplifier. It offers better sensitivity specification makes it the perfect choice for both near field and far-field applications. Moreover, it has high SNR and flat wideband frequency response, resulting in a natural sound with high intelligibility. And also low current consumption enables long battery life for portable applications. This microphone module comes with an onboard particle filter ensuring high reliability. The ADMP401 module works perfectly with the TIA-920 standard Telecommunications Telephone Terminal Equipment Transmission Requirements for Wideband Digital Wireline Telephones.
The most important advantage of this breakout and microphone is the bottom ported input. This indicates that the microphone’s input can fit flush against the enclosure of your project. Additionally, there is no need to deal with trying to solder the microphone’s wacky footprint. The amplifier on the breakout board provides a gain of 67 and more than meets the bandwidth requirements of the mic. The amplifier’s AUD output switches at one-half Vcc when no sound picked up. Moreover, this amplifier produces a peak-to-peak output of about 200mV when the microphone is held at arm’s length and talks at normal conversational volume levels. Thus the AUD output can easily be connected to the ADC of a micro.
