RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Motion Sensor
The RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Motion Sensor detects movement using Doppler radar and provides a digital output for security and automation applications.
The RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Motion Sensor is a compact Doppler radar–based motion detection module that uses microwave signals to detect movement of objects or people. Unlike PIR sensors, it can detect motion through plastic, glass, thin walls, and enclosures, making it highly versatile for indoor and concealed installations.
The module operates by transmitting microwave signals and analyzing the reflected waves for frequency changes caused by movement. When motion is detected, it provides a digital HIGH output, which can be directly interfaced with microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, and PIC.
With wide detection range, stable performance, and low power consumption, the RCWL-0516 is ideal for security alarms, automatic lighting, smart switches, occupancy detection, and IoT automation projects.
