TCRT5000 Module

TCRT5000 Dual Channel Line tracking sensor module used widely in line following robots, also used in sumo- mini-sumo robots for line control. This IR reflective sensor Module is based on TCRT5000 IR Sensor IC used to detect colour and distance. It consists of an IR transmitter & an IR receiver. IR Transmitter continuously emits IR signal which is then reflected back by an obstacle and is then detected by the IR receiver. The TCRT500 sensor is simply a combination of a photodiode and a phototransistor. These sensors are enclosed in a leaded package that blocks visible light.

TCRT5000 Infrared Reflective Sensor Module is widely used in line following robots, object sorting Robot because this module can sense if a surface is white or black. It can operate at a measuring distance range from 1mm to 8mm, and the central point is about 2.5mm. The onboard potentiometer in the module was used to adjust the sensitivity. When the module is powered ON, the infrared diode will continuously emit the infrared rays. If the emitted infrared light has not been reflected or the strength is not big enough, the receiver diode remains in the off state and the output pin i.e. DO will be LOW.

TCRT 5000 has a digital output. When the sensor detects an object, the output switches to 0V, if it does not detect any object, the output becomes 5V. This module provides an operating voltage of 3.3v to 5v DC with a current of 15mA.
