IOT BASED BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

IoT or the internet of things is characterized as a forthcoming innovation that empowers us to control equipment gadgets through the Internet. Homes of the next generation will become more and more self-controlled and mechanized because of the solace it gives, particularly when utilized in a private home, offices, schools, etc.

Ever wondered why marking attendance is the first and such an important element of school daily routine. Attendance management plays a crucial role in educational institutes so, when a student is marked present it also implies that he is ‘safe’, ‘sincere”,’ punctual’ and ‘conscientious’. At the same time, attendance marking also plays a vital role in offices also. We are living in a technology-based society where we find lots of innovations day by day, so we are in need of a futuristic and accurate attendance system. Here we design a real-time Biometric Attendance Management system for schools, offices, organizations, etc. These IoT-based systems assist organizations or enterprises in boosting their productivity and optimizing resources.

This smart fingerprint-based biometric attendance system works over IOT so that attendance can be monitored from anywhere in the world. Our system uses a microcontroller-based circuit with a fingerprint sensor, push buttons, power supply, power supply, and wifi modem to interact with an internet-based system. Additionally, the real-time biometric attendance systems utilized for employee attendance possess the capability to analyze gain on invested man-hours.

BENEFITS OF PROPOSED SYSTEM:

  • Biometric machine eliminates employee proxy
  • Reduces cost and manpower
  • Offers real time information
  • Restricts Unauthorized access
  • Boost employee efficiency
  • Manages leave and holiday efficiently\Gather data from multiple location at one place
  • Faultless payroll calculation in just one tap
  • Gathers complete employee details
  • Ensure better security
  • Will get rid of paper based monitoring

PROPOSED SYSTEM:

A biometric attendance machine is a device that is used to verify the identity of a person. The characteristics used to identify a person include fingerprints, voice patterns, iris, face recognition, and hand measurements. These biometrics are unique for every individual and the data in the biometric devices cannot be shared or hacked. It replaces the traditional security method of entering passwords or codes.

In this proposed system, we are integrating IoT into the boring attendance system to make it smart and more effective. Most conventional attendance systems available today store the information over a micro SD card and have to be connected to software via a computer to access the information.

This project is a smart fingerprint-based biometric attendance system that works over IOT so that attendance can be monitored from anywhere in the world. Our system uses an Atmega328 microcontroller-based circuit with a fingerprint sensor, push buttons, power supply, power supply, and wifi modem to interact with the internet-based system. We here use IOT Google SpreadSheet to develop the online attendance display system. Our system allows users/employees/students to first register their fingerprints on the system. After successful registration, the print is stored in a system with class assigned using push buttons.

The system also displays these details over an LCD display. Now as soon as the next time a registered user scans the modem, the system checks for authentication, and authenticated user’s data is transferred online to IoT Platform using the Google SpreadSheet. Now the online system stores and displays the required data to users as per online login. Thus our system allows for remote monitoring of biometric-based attendance from anywhere over IoT.

Applications of biometric systems:-

  • Legal applications:

Justice and law enforcement: Biometric technology and law enforcement have a very long history, and many very important innovations in identity management. Fingerprint, face, and voice recognitions play a unique role in improving public safety and keeping track of the people we are looking for.

  • Government applications:
  • Border control and airport:

A key area of application for biometric technology is at the border. Biometric technology helps to automate the process of border crossing.

  • Healthcare:

In the field of healthcare, biometrics introduces an enhanced model. Medical records are among the most valuable personal documents; doctors need to be able to access them quickly, and they need to be accurate.

  • Commercial applications:
  • Security:

As connectivity continues to spread around the world, it is clear that old security methods are simply not strong enough to protect what is most important

  • Finance:

Among the most popular applications of biometric technology, financial identification, verification, and authentication in commerce help make banking, purchasing, and account management safer and more convenient and responsible.

  • Mobile:

Mobile biometric solutions integrate one or more biometric terms for authentication or identification purposes and take advantage of smartphones, tablets, other types of handhelds, wearable technology, and the Internet of things for versatile deployment capabilities.

  • Automotive industry:

There is an established relationship between eye movement and attention. Thus, tracking the car driver’s eye movements can be very helpful in measuring the degree of sleepiness, tiredness, or drowsiness. The sleepiness of the driver can be detected by analyzing either blink duration and amplitude or the level of gaze activity.

  • Screen navigation:

One of the most important applications for people with disabilities is screen navigation. Using cameras, the application can track a person’s eye movements in order to scroll a web page, write text, or perform actions by clicking on buttons on a computer or mobile devices.

CONCLUSION:

We are living in a technology-based society where we have lots of innovative ideas day by day. These new innovations in IoT communications-based projects, strive constantly to share and gather insight on the latest trends in the industrial IoT landscape. In conclusion, the objective of this project is to build a system that can monitor Biometric attendance based on IoT.
This smart fingerprint-based biometric attendance system works over IOT so that attendance can be monitored from anywhere in the world.
