IOT Social Distancing & Monitoring Robot For Queue

IoT or the internet of things is characterized as a forthcoming innovation that empowers us to create worldwide networked machines and also the devices that can be helped for exchanging of communication. As we all know that the real-time application has been increasing day by day, the smart connection also had increased. Rapid population growth led to the increase in global life expectancy and the advance of technology, paving the pathway for the creation of age-friendly environments. This had led to the necessity in designing new products for people’s healthcare.

The  World  Health  Organization announced a  public health emergency of  Global Importance on January  30,  2020, with the emergency of CoronaVirus Disease  2019  (covid-19). Coronavirus is a new Covid SARS-COV-2 irresistible infection. The most normally utilized techniques for controlling the spread of this exceptionally irresistible infection are contact following and case confinement.

Taking into account the current pandemic condition, Social Distancing had become a key part of battling the pandemic. Social distancing is quite important because it helps limit the development of Covid by maintaining the perceived distance between people who spread the disease. Currently, it is not possible to continuously monitor the place where social distances are violated. There are often long queues for several hours a day. In Order to avoid these social distance queues, we had designed a IoT-based Social Distance & Monitoring Robot.

PROPOSED SYSTEM:

Social distancing plays a vital role during this current pandemic condition. This proposed system helps to limit the spread of covid by observing the distance between disease-spreading individuals. The system has been declared as a unique method for mechanically observing a pair of people, in a crowded environment that does not comply with social distancing restrictions.

The robot in the system comprises a 4 wheel design system used to drive the robotic vehicle. It functions via line following principle to constantly move along with the queue and monitor for social distancing violations. The robot uses IR sensing to travel along with the queue to and fro in order to detect violations. The robot is now equipped with an obstacle detecting ultrasonic sensor in order to detect obstacles in the vehicle path.

The system consists of another ultrasonic sensor for detecting distance between 2 individuals in a queue. If any 2 individuals standing together are found to have less than 3 feet of distance between them, the robot instantly alarms a buzzer and alerts them to inform about the violation. Also, it sends alerts of these violations along with a camera picture using wifi over iot to inform the higher authorities/head office to update them about violations with proof.

 As a result, they will be subject to disciplinary action immediately, and disciplinary action can be taken.Thus this project allows for automatic maintaining social distancing in queues to help prevent spread of the virus.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE:

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Arduino Uno:

Arduino Uno is an open-source based on the Microchip ATmega328P developed by Arduino. cc. The current version of Arduino Uno comes with a USB interface, 14 digital I/O pins, 6 analog pins, an ICSP header, 16 MHz ceramic resonators, a power jack,  and a reset button. And an Atmega328 microcontroller is used to connect with external electronics circuits.

  • Arduino Motor Shield Rev 3

The Arduino Motor Shield is based on the L298, which is a dual full-bridge driver designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC and stepping motors. It allows driving two DC motors with your Arduino board, controlling the speed and direction of each one independently.

  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B was designed as the earliest model of the third-generation Raspberry Pi. This model features a powerful core processor 10x faster than the first-generation Raspberry Pi. Moreover, it adds up wireless LAN & Bluetooth connectivity making it the ideal solution for powerful connected designs. This updated version of Raspberry Pi comes with a credit-card-sized single-board computer used for a wide range of applications.

  • Raspberry Pi Camera Module:

Raspberry Pi 5MP (1920p) cameras are defined as super high definition cameras that record class-leading 5-megapixel images with enhanced camera sensors. The 5MP CCTV camera provides a high resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels, with improved image clarity. These custom-designed camera modules for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B are connected using a short ribbon cable. The Raspberry Pi connected to the camera module using the two small sockets on the upper surface of the board.

  • Ultrasonic Sensor:

This ultrasonic sensor module is used for measuring distance, object sensors, motion sensors, etc. Ultrasonic Sensor HC-SR04 uses sonar to measure the distance of the object. It emits an ultrasonic wave at 40 kHz which will go and bounce back after hitting an object. An ultrasonic sensor detects and measures the distance of a target object using ultrasonic sound waves and converts the reflected sound into an electrical signal. 

  • Buzzer:

  A Buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device. Whenever the air pollution goes above the threshold level the Buzzer starts beeping indicating Danger.

  • BOLT WiFi Module:

CONCLUSION:
The main aim of this paper is to automate the entire covid social distance Monitoring Queue process for reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19 in highly crowded places such as malls, schools, and colleges. In this system, If any 2 individuals standing together are found to have less than 3 feet distance between them, the robot instantly alarms a buzzer and alert to inform about the violation. Also, it sends alerts of these violations along with a camera picture using wifi over Iot to inform the higher authorities/head office to update them about violations with proof. Thereby helps to maintain the social distancing and helps to prevent the pandemic up to an extent. This system is a cost-effective, practical, eco-friendly, and safest way to protect ourselves from contacting others. Moreover, in this system, the underground information can be accessed anytime and anywhere. It clearly tackles the challenges that the world is facing today.
