An on-screen display (OSD) is a feature of some televisions and other displays that allows the user to control various settings of the display through text menus that are shown on the screen.

OSDs can usually be accessed by pressing a dedicated button on the remote control or TV itself.
How Does It Work?
On-screen display technology works by using a tiny camera to take a picture of what’s on your screen. The image is then sent to a software programme that changes the colour of the image based on what key or button you’re pressing.
For example, if you’re playing a game and you hit the “A” button, the on-screen display will change the colour of the “A” button in the image to match whatever colour it is in the game. This way, you can see what buttons you need to press without having to look away from the screen.
