This is basically 16 character by 1 line display with high contrast black text on the blue background. 16*1 LCD module consists of 16 columns and 1 rows. An interface IC HD447480 attached to the backside of the LCD module to determine the position of the pixel. This IC gets commands and data from the microcontroller and processes it, thus display it on the screen. And also it is quite simple to work with these LCDs s and they have full compatibility with all microcontrollers and processor boards.
In 16*1 LCD display, 5 × 8 and 5 × 10 dot matrix possible. In which supports 208 character fonts (5 × 8 dot) and 32 character fonts (5 × 10 dot). This is the most prominent and easily controlled display commonly used in 8051, Arduino, Raspberry pi, etc. In this module with a resistor or PWM, the intensity of the color can be dimmed easily. The value on display may be numerical values read by the sensors or even the no of the cycle of the controller performing. Only 6 digital lines are required for the entire control of the display system. These are commonly used in password-based door systems, sensors, moving message displays, GSM-based digital boards, and other display units.
LCD modules are the most prominent as they are low cost and program friendly, hence these modules are commonly used in the embedded system. This display module works on 5V and has a green backlight which can be on or off as per requirement. Moreover, it can work in both 4 bit and 8-bit MCU interfaces.
