7″ TFT-LCD touch screen display module, for Raspberry Pi, are designed explicitly for those who need high quality and colourful images. This module has a wide range of applications such as embedded systems, automation, GPS, medical equipment, industrial device, etc. This 800 x 480-pixel resolution touchscreen provides a 7-inch size screen with a 10 finger capacitive touch. The display is connected to the board via an adapter board. This adapter board functions as a display powering the device. And also convert the parallel signals from the display to the serial (DSI) port on the Raspberry Pi. Only two connections are required for a Raspberry pi’s operation.
- The power from the Pi’s GPIO port
- The ribbon cable that connects to the DSI port is present on all Raspberry Pis except Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W.
This TFT-LCD touch screen display module for Raspberry Pi drivers supports 10-finger touch and on-screen keyboard software. This on-screen keyboard software is integrated into the latest Raspberry Pi OS for full functionality without a physical keyboard or mouse. Stand-off screws provide the connection of Raspberry Pi to the display board.
By developing a Python script, to interact with the display, so we can create our own IoT home automation devices with touch screen capability by connecting to Raspberry Pi. Jumper wires connect the power from the Adapter Board and the GPIO pins on the Pi. Thus the 2Amp power is shared across both units. This 7″ touchscreen is Compatible with Raspberry Pi 4, Pi 3, Pi 2, Model B+, and Model A+. T Model A and Model B boards work with the display by connecting it to the DSI port on the Pi board. However, the mounting holes provided on the back of the display only line up with the newer board designs (A+, B+, Pi 2, and Pi 3).
