CD74HC147E provide the 10-line to 4-line priority encoding function by use of the implied decimal “zero”. When all nine data inputs are HIGH, the “zero” is encoded, forcing all four outputs to be HIGH. The 74HC147N is a low-power Schottky TTL device with a high-speed Si-gate CMOS device (LSTTL). It is defined in accordance with JEDEC standard 7A.
The 74HC147N 9-input priority encoders take data from nine active LOW inputs (A0 to A8) and convert it to binary on four active LOW outputs (Y0 to Y3). A priority is assigned to each input so that when two or more inputs are active at the same time, the output represents the input with the highest priority, with input line A8 having the highest priority. The gadget uses the assumed decimal “zero” to produce a 10-line to 4-line priority encoding mechanism. When all nine data inputs are HIGH, the “zero” is encoded.
