74LS04 Hex Inverter IC

The 74LS04 designed as a Hex Inverter (NOT gate) IC. This IC comes with six NOT gates inside it and every gate provides one input and one output pin. That means it consists of six inverters that perform logical invert action. The output of an inverter is the complement of its input logic state i.e. when input is high its output is low and the other way around. In this, the device contains six independent gates each of which performs the logic INVERT function. When operating at 5V, the high level input voltage is 2V, and therefore the low-level input voltage is 0.8V. Contains absolute maximum ratings over operating free-air temperature range, recommended operating conditions, electrical characteristics over recommended operating free-air temperature range.

All six NOT gates powered via a standard rail, but can operate independently. It’s a triple buffered inverter with high noise immunity and therefore the ability to drive 10 LS-TTL loads. The 74HC logic family is functionally also as pin-out compatible with the quality 74LS logic family.It has an operating voltage range from 2V to 6V and consumes only 20uA of current. The 74HC04 inverter IC uses advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology to achieve operating rates that are practically identical to LS-TTL gates while consuming less power than conventional CMOS integrated circuits. Internal diode clamps to VCC and ground protect all inputs from static discharge damage.
