The 74LS14 designed as a Hex Inverter (NOT gate) belongs to the 74XXYY IC. This IC comes with six NOT gates inside it and every gate provides one input and one output pin. That mean it consists of six inverters that perform logical invert action. The output of an inverter is complement of its input logic state i.e. when input is high its output is low and the other way around .
In this, the device contains six independent gates each of which performs the logic INVERT function. When operating at 5V, the minimum high-level input voltage is 4.75V, and therefore the maximum low-level input voltage is 5.25V. 74LS14 function using a single power supply to all the triggers and used to operate with any TTL based device. Each input offers hysteresis that increases the noise immunity and transforms a slowly changing input signal to a fast-changing, jitter-free output. These circuits easily operates easily in any environment and triggered easily with the slowest input ramps.
A Schmitt Trigger designed as a comparator-based circuit that gives the output on the basis of the previous gate output. In a Schmitt Trigger, the input value exist as analog or digital but the output always comes in two forms 1 or 0. By applying a positive feedback system, any circuit is convertible to Schmitt trigger. In a Schmitt Trigger circuit, the threshold used to obtain the output. When the value is greater than the threshold the output remain HIGH otherwise it will be considered in the LOW state.Â
