The 74LS248 IC features active low outputs designed for driving active-high outputs for driving lamp buffers. It takes a binary-coded decimal as input and transforms it to a pattern that can be used to control a seven-segment display that can display numbers from 0 to 9. The 74LS248 IC has a large operating voltage range, a wide operating temperature range, and directly interfaces with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL. TTL is always the output of the IC. As a result, it’s simple to interface with other TTL devices and microcontrollers. The IC 74LS248 is smaller and quicker, making it suitable for use in a wide range of applications.
The 74LS248 also includes a light test input as well as complete ripple-blanking input/output controls. This IC additionally has an incorporated automated leading and/or trailing-edge zero-blanking control (RBI and RBO) as well as an overriding blanking input (BI) that may be used to pulsate the lamp intensity or disable the output’s lamp test at any time when the BI/RBO node is at a high level.
The IC 74LS248’s output is determined by the input. The four major input ports allow to produce fixed output states based on specified input data. The decimal zero is represented by 0000 in a 4-bit binary digit, and the decimal nine is represented by 1001. Furthermore, all values from 1 to 8 are represented by a fixed four-digit binary code. Whenever an input on the IC ranges from 0 to 9, the output value is determined by the common cathode 7 segments.
