The Philips 80C52 designed as a high-performance static 80C51 design fabricated with Philips high-density CMOS technology. This Microcontroller operates at a supply voltage range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. The 80C52 IC comprises of 128 × 8 RAM and 256 × 8 RAM respectively.
In this microcontroller, by combining a flexible 8-bit CPU with in-system programmable Flash on a monolithic chip, the IC becomes effectively powerful microcontroller. In order that it delivers a highly flexible and affordable solution to various embedded control applications. Moreover, the 80C52 features a six-source, four-priority level nested interrupt structure, a serial I/O port for either multi-processor communications, I/O expansion or full duplex UART, and on-chip oscillator and clock circuits.
In addition to it, the 80C52 equipped with static logic for operation right down to zero frequency and supports two software selectable power saving modes. The Idle Mode stops the functioning of the CPU allowing the RAM, timer/counters, serial port, and interrupt system to continue their operation. Whereas, the Power-down mode saves the RAM contents but freezes the oscillator. Thereby disabling all other chip functions until the next external interrupt or hardware reset. These two features makes it suitable for battery operated applications. Meanwhile, all the port pins of the 80C52 offers slew rate controlled outputs. This limits noise generated by quickly switching output signals. The slew rate is factory set to approximately 10 ns rise and fall times.
