A4988 is a highly precise micro-stepping motor with a built-in translator. This A4988 stepper motor driver for Arduino is the latest version of easy driver v4.4. This module is designed as a highly flexible and easily controllable stepper motor compared to the older version. This module is compatible with most of the microcontrollers which can output a digital f 0 to 5 V and also requires an 8V TO 35V power supply for the motor. It consists of 0f on-board voltage regulator for the digital interface set to 5v or 3.3v. These modules are designed to operate on a bipolar stepper motor with full, half, quarter, eighth and sixteen-step mode, with an output drive capacity of 35 and+/- 1m A.
This module operates in slow, fast, and mixed current delay mode as it consists of fixed OFF current regulatory requirements. The current decay function allows for the reduction of audible motor noise step accuracy and reduced power dissipation. Internal circuit protection includes thermal shutdown with hysteresis under-voltage lockout and crossover current protection. Moreover, the microstep select pins of the A4988 are broken out as 0.1 header allowing adjustments to the micro-stepping resolution.
The inbuilt converter/translator performs the key to the easy implementation of the A3967. By simply inputting one pulse to the STEP input, drives the motor one micro-step. This motor driver does not consist of any phase sequence tables, high-frequency control lines, or complex interface to program. Thus A4988 motor driver is a perfect solution for applications where a complex microprocessor is unavailable or is overburdened. During stepping operation, the A4988 automatically selects the current decay mode, Slow or Mixed with the help of the chopping control
