The ADC0809 data acquisition component is a monolithic CMOS device that includes an 8-bit analog-to-digital converter, an 8-channel multiplexer, and control logic that is compatible with microprocessors. The conversion mechanism used by the 8-bit A/D converter is sequential approximation. A high impedance chopper stabilised comparator, a 256R voltage divider with analogue switch tree, and a successive approximation register are also included in the converter. Any of the 8 single-ended analogue signals can be accessed directly by the 8-channel multiplexer. External zero and full-scale adjustments are no longer required with this device.
The ADC0809’s architecture was developed by combining the best features of many A/D conversion approaches. The ADC0809 has a fast response time, high precision, low temperature dependency, great long-term accuracy and repeatability, and uses very little power. These characteristics make this device appropriate for a wide range of applications, including process and machine control, consumer electronics, and automotive applications. An 8-channel single-ended analogue signal multiplexer is included in the device. The address decoder is used to pick a certain input channel. The input states for the address lines to pick any channel are shown in Table 1. On the low-to-high transition of the address latch enable signal, the address was latched into the decoder.
The 8-bit analog-to-digital converter is at the heart of this single-chip data gathering device. Over a wide range of temperatures, the converter is designed to provide rapid, precise, and consistent conversions. Meanwhile, the 256R ladder network, successive approximation register, and comparator were partitioned into three key portions of the converter. The digital outputs of the converter are also positive true.
