The CD4066 designed as a quad single-pole, single-throw analog switch. Each switch in the IC  provides two input/output terminals (nY and nZ). And also an active HIGH enables input (nE). When nE remains LOW, the analog switch turned off and the Inputs include clamp diodes. This enables the use of current limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages in excess of VCC.
CD4066 designed from the CD4000 IC series. The CD4066 quad switch made explicitly for the transmission or multiplexing of analog or digital signals. This device is made pin-for-pin compatible with CD4016BC but provides much lower on-state resistance. The IC operates on working voltages and conditions and has direct compatibility with CMOS, TTL, and NMOS devices. Moreover, this IC PROVIDESÂ squelch controlling and ESD barring FEATURES.
The on-state resistance is additionally relatively constant over the complete signal-input range. The CD4066B device consists of 4 bilateral switches, each with independent controls. Both the p and therefore the n devices during a given switch are biased on or off simultaneously by the control signal. The well of the n-channel device on each switch attached either to the input (when the switch is on) or to VSS (when the switch is off). This configuration eliminates the variation of the switch-transistor threshold voltage with input and keeps the on-state resistance low over the complete operating-signal range.
