The Flexi Force A401 sensors are designed as the largest sensor optimized for high volume manufacturing. These sensors are perfect for embedding into different products. A401 sensors are available in one force range: 111 N (0 – 25 lb). This ultra-thin and flexible piezoresistive force sensor is available off-the-shelf in a variety of lengths for easy proof of concept. The A401 can be used with our test & measurement, prototyping, and embedding electronics, including the OEM Development Kit, FlexiForce Quickstart Board, and the ELF™ System*, ideal for prototyping and integrating into OEM applications. This 2-pin male square connector sensor provides the largest sensing area of 25.4mm diameter at the end of the sensor.
This Flexi Force Tekscan A401 Sensor is based on a flexible printed circuit, that can be easily integrated into most applications. Due to its paper-thin construction, flexibility, and force measurement ability, it is capable of measuring the force between almost any two surfaces and is durable enough to stand up to most environments. FlexiForce offers better force sensing properties, linearity, hysteresis, drift, and temperature sensitivity than any other thin-film force sensor. It can measure up to a force range of 0-1 lb and 0- 7000 lb by utilizing the recommended circuitry. By reducing the drive voltage VTÂ and adjusting the resistance of the feedback resistor RF, the dynamic range of this force sensor can be extended. Conversely, by increasing VT or RF the sensitivity can be increased. Moreover, these ultra-thin sensors are ideal for non-intrusive force and pressure measurement in a variety of applications.
In order to measure higher forces, highly recommended to apply a lower drive voltage (-0.5 V, -0.25 V, etc.). And thereby reducing the resistance of the feedback resistor (1kΩ min.). Whereas to measure lower forces, a higher drive voltage is applied and increase the resistance of the feedback resistor.
