A GAS sensor or a GAS Detector is defined as a chemical sensor that detects/measures the concentration of gas in its vicinity. A gas sensor is a simple drive circuit that interacts with gas to measure concentration. This sensor offers a wide range of applications in various industries ranging from medicine to aerospace. Various technologies adopted to measure Gas concentration such as semiconductors, oxidation, catalytic, infrared, etc. Thus the MQ303 model is ideal for alcohol detection such as portable breath alcohol checker or ignition locking system in automobiles.
MQ303 is a Tin oxide semiconductor sensor designed explicitly for Alcohol detection. It offers very good sensitivity and fast response to alcohol. When the target gas contains the content of alcohol, the sensor’s conductivity is higher alongside the gas concentration rising. As MQ-303 gas sensor offers high sensitivity to Alcohol and has good resistance to disturb gasoline, smoke, and vapour. This sensor provides an analogue resistive output supported alcohol concentration.
The resistance varies inside the sensor on the detection of alcohol. Therefore more the alcohol content exhibits the lower the resistance. Thus the alcohol content is measured by measuring this resistance. As a result, the sensor and load resistor in the module form a potential divider, and therefore the lower the sensor resistance, the upper the voltage reading is going to be.
