HC-06 based on Bluetooth Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) module designed as Wireless Serial Communication allows use with any microcontroller. Used to establish short-range wireless data communication between two microcontrollers or systems. This module is the most demanding and popular due to its low cost and extremely high features. The module works on Bluetooth 2.0 communication protocol and it can only act as a slave device. This wireless data transmission is defined as one of the cheapest and more flexible compared to other methods. HC-06 module transfers data files at a speed up to 2.1Mb/s. It supports the UART protocol for easy transfer and receives data wirelessly. So we can connect the module to any microcontroller or directly to a PC that has an RS232 port (UART interface).
This serial port Bluetooth module features fully qualified Bluetooth V2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) 3Mbps with a complete frequency range from 2.402 GHz to 2.480GHz. Moreover, HC-06 uses the frequency hopping spread spectrum technique (FHSS) to avoid interference with other devices and to have full-duplex transmission. The HC-06Â is capable to add a two-way (full-duplex) wireless functionality to our projects. The module communicates using the USART protocol at a baud rate of 9600. Hence it is easy to interface with any microcontroller that supports USART. The onboard LED present on the board indicates the connection status, whether the Bluetooth is connected or not. This red LED blinks continuously in a periodic manner before connecting to the module. When connected to any other Bluetooth device, its blinking slows down to two seconds.
