Switch ICs designed as power management ICs placed between a voltage source and a load to control the power supply to the load. Using mechanical relays, MOSFETs, and other discrete semiconductor devices, a comparable circuit may be built. However, by employing load switch ICs, the circuit footprint and power consumption may be reduced. These integrated circuits (ICs) are capable of storing energy in an inductor, transformer, or capacitor. And it allows the storage devices to transport energy in discrete packets from the input to the output through a low-resistance switch.
The IRIS4011(K) defined as a dual-mode voltage and current controller combined with a MOSFET in a single package. The IRIS4011(K) is intended for use in universal and single-input AC/DC switching power supply with a nominal input of 230VAC. In addition, with a universal line input, it can deliver up to 60W of power. This switcher IC is also available in a 5 pin TO-220 package. It also protects against overcurrent and overheating using a quasi-resonant or Pulse Ratio Control (PRC) foundation, allowing for variable frequency operation.
APPLICATIONS:
- Linear transformer replacement in all ≤3 W applications
- Chargers for mobile phones, cordless phones, PDAs, digital cameras, MP3/portable audio players, as well as shavers and other personal care products.
- Home appliances, white goods and consumer electronics
- Â Constant output current LED lighting applications
- Â TV standby and other auxiliary supplies
