- MAX7219 digital display control module
- This module is compatible with 5V and 3.3V microcontrollers.
- You can use it for Arduino
- Only three IO ports are used to drive the eight-digit display. MAX7219 supports flicker-free displays as well as cascading displays.
MAX7219 is an IC that can control 7-segment LEDs (up to 8 digits), block displays (bar displays), and 64 individual common cathode LEDs. MAX7219 utilises the SPI communication method to interface with a microcontroller. As a result, only three microcontroller interfaces are required to operate 64 LEDs. The MAX7219 Driver chip, which is based on an integrated serial input/output common-cathode display driver, is used in this Dot Led Matrix Module. This module connects the MPU to a seven-segment LED display. This LED display may have up to eight numbers, a bar graph, or 64 individual LEDs.
An on-chip BCD code decoder, multiplex scan circuitry, segment digits drivers, and an 8*8 static RAM make up the Max7219. As a result, it provides a slew rate with restricted segment drivers in order to decrease EMI. To adjust the segment current of each LED, only one external register is required. A 150A low-power shutdown mode, as well as analogue and digital brightness control, are all included in the device. A scan-limit register, as well as a let-all, LED light detection mode, enabling the user to show the 1-8 bits of data.
Each individual module has 88 LEDs, each of which is precisely controlled by the MAX7219 controller to produce the desired colour pattern. As a consequence, the user will be able to control all 64 LEDs simply by connecting three output communication lines to microcontrollers such as Arduino. As a result of the 4-wire serial interface, all common microcontrollers may readily connect with this module. Without refreshing the entire display, each output may be handled. The display is driven by three I/O lines, making it excellent for microcontroller projects. Furthermore, the four Dot Matrix LEDs were cascaded to create a single LED Display.
