As the name indicates the Raindrops Detection sensor module is used for Rain Detection. It also measures rainfall intensity makes it ideal for all kinds of weather monitoring and in the agriculture sector to sense rain. Raindrops Detection sensor consists of two modules. A Rain Board that detects the raindrop and a Control Board which compares the analogue value and converts it to a digital value. The control module of the raindrop sensor consists of 4 outputs. The D0 pin is connected to the digital pin of the microcontroller for digital output or the analogue pin can be used.
In order to use the analogue output, the A0 pin is connected to the ADC pin of a microcontroller. This sensor module consists of an onboard potentiometer to adjust the sensitivity, LM393 comparator, LEDs, capacitors, and resistors. The control board collects the raindrops on the circuit board. And they create paths of parallel resistance measured via the op-amp. The lower the resistance (or the more water), the lower will be the voltage output voltage. Similarly, the less content of water, the greater the output voltage on the analogue pin. A completely dry board, indicate the module to output 5V. The raindrop sensors offer a wide range of applications in the automobile sector to control the windshield wipers automatically, in the agriculture sector to sense rain, and also used in home automation systems.
Pin Configuration Of Rain Sensor:
- VCC: Connects supply voltage- 5V
- GND: Connected to ground
- D0: Digital pin to get digital output
- A0: Analog pin to get analogue output
