This newly released SD card V4.0 shield is designed specifically for data logging applications that need access to large amounts of removable persistent data storage. It is used to provide storage space for Arduino. The users can read/write SD cards via Arduino’s built-in SD library.
This Arduino compatible shield is capable of supporting SD cards, SDHC cards, and MicroSD card storage media. The SD cards are accessed via the Arduino SPI port and programmed using the standard Arduino SD Library. Compared with the older versions, it combines the standard SD slot and the Micro SD slot into a standard one, the included adaptor enables using of Micro SD cards. It is also possible to stack on other shields that work with the unused pins. Moreover, it also provides two handy Grove connectors for Serial and I2C ports and a reset button for the groove module connection.
The onboard toggle switch on the module is used to select the SD card type. The card supports the use of one and only one format of SD card, either SD/SDHC or MicroSD. Before using an SD or MicroSD card, set the shields “SELECT” switch to the proper setting: toward the SD/SDHC slot, or the MicroSD slot. The SD card shield comes with a full-sized SD card slot on the top and a Micro SD card slot on the bottom. Jumpers are provided on the shield board for configuring the Arduino SPI port pins.
