TSL235R light-to-frequency converter, a precision optical sensor

The TSL235R is a precision light-to-frequency optical sensor that outputs a digital frequency proportional to light intensity.

Description

The TSL235R Light-to-Frequency Converter is a high-precision optical sensor that converts light intensity directly into a frequency output. This digital frequency signal is proportional to the incident light level, making the sensor highly immune to noise and ideal for accurate ambient light measurement.

The TSL235R integrates a silicon photodiode and current-to-frequency converter on a single chip, eliminating the need for external ADCs. Its frequency output can be easily measured using timers or counters on microcontrollers such as Arduino, STM32, PIC, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.

Thanks to its wide dynamic range, excellent linearity, and stable performance, the TSL235R is widely used in light meters, optical instruments, industrial sensing, environmental monitoring, and scientific measurement applications.
