This ultrasonic sensor module is used for measuring distance, object sensors, motion sensors, etc. Â This ultrasonic waterproof module is similar to the ultrasonic sensors which are found in cars. This Waterproof Ultrasonic Obstacle Sensor exhibits some constructional advantages during the design over conventional sensors. This sensor consists of two separate parts one being the transducer which is the sensing element and the other being the control board. The module is capable of providing information about the objects at a range of 250 mm to 4500 mm. The great advantage of using this sensor is that we can put the sensing element far away from all the control circuitry.
To generate the ultrasound, the Trig set to a high state for a time of 10 µs. In response to it, the sensor transmits an 8 cycle sonic burst at 40KHz which travels at the speed of sound and it will be received in the Echo pin. The Echo pin goes high and will output the time in microseconds of the sound wave travelled. As soon as the signal is received, the echo pin goes low. By keeping track of the time duration between transmitting and receiving the signal, the distance can be calculated. Distance = (Time to Receive Reflected Signal * speed of sound (340M/S)) /2
This Waterproof Ultrasonic Obstacle Sensor meets the requirement to operate in vulnerable conditions. Hence offers good performance, waterproof ability, and almost the same usage as an HC-SR04 module.
