The USB Charger Doctor as its name indicates functions as a doctor. This doctor works when the voltage goes too low or the current rises too high. It measures the working voltage and current output for any USB port and project. This module is designed with blue plastic dongle plugs encapsulated between a USB device and passes the data lines through. A 0.05-ohm resistor arranged in line with the power pin measures the current draw. This USB charger doctor consists of an onboard digital display that instantly reads the values out for testing devices such as chargers, cables, and cell phones.
This device operates at a voltage ranging from 3.5v to 7VDC input voltage (although most USB devices tend to hover around 4.75 to 5.25). And can drive a maximum current up to 3A. It flips between voltage and current readouts every 3 seconds or so. This is a simple tool used commonly for testing USB devices, checking load levels, and debugging battery chargers and boost converters. Although it’s a little chunkier ensures a more precise value than our USB Power Gauge Mini-Kit. As this is not open-source, so check out the USB Power Gauge mini kit if you want to hack together your own power gauge indicator.
It offers a wide range of applications such as in any phone, any electronic products, factories, laboratories, etc. Finally, it reads out the voltage and current value from the USB port to help debug projects.
