A Float sensor defines as a simple water level indicator used to detect the level of liquid within a tank. This water level controller is used in a pump, an indicator, an alarm, or other devices. A water level controller is actually a Magnetic float sensor with an electromagnetic ON/OFF switch that floats on top of a liquid surface.
This sensor works by sensing the level of water present in the overhead tank or sump. These sensors consist of a permanent magnet and the Switch is present in the white stem of the sensor. The magnet in the float activates the switch in the sensor, as soon as the float rises or falls with the level of water in the tank. Thereby the signal output is obtained from the sensors used along with the water level controllers for controlling the motor pump.
The float switch installations reduce the chance for the accumulation of dirt on the float that would prevent its motion. Thus the Float switch materials are designed to resist the deleterious effects of corrosive process liquids. In most of the systems, a properly selected and sized float detects the interface level between two liquids of different densities. Under the circumstances, the liquid with high viscosity cannot be measured. In case the pressure inside of the tank is high or the liquid’s specific gravity is low, the float will not operate. So these conditions are not permitted for liquid level detection.
