40TPS12 SCR 1200V 35A series of silicon-controlled rectifiers specifically designed for medium power switching and phase control applications. Up to 125°C junction temperature, the glass passivation method provides dependable operation. Input rectification (soft start) is a common application, and these devices are designed to work with International Rectifier input diodes, switches, and output rectifiers, all of which have identical package designs.. It contains three terminals that mirror thermionic valve/vacuum tube technology: anode, cathode, and gate. They’re commonly used for regulating or switching power and frequently high voltage AC or DC circuits, AC power control (including lights, motors, and so on), Overvoltage protection crowbar for power supplies, and AC power switching.
A four-layer solid-state current-controlling device known as a silicon-controlled rectifier or semiconductor-controlled rectifier. SCRs are unidirectional, meaning they can only carry current in one direction. TRIACs, on the other hand, are bidirectional (i.e. charge carriers can flow through them in either direction). TRIACs may be activated by either a positive or negative current running through the gate electrode, unlike SCRs, which are normally triggered by a positive current flowing into the gate. Because it is the solid-state equivalent of a thyratron, this device is also known as a thyristor or thyroid transistor. SCRs are three-terminal, four-layer semiconductor devices with alternating p-type and n-type layers.
