7417N designed as a high-drive, open-collector device used for multiple buffer-type functions. This device capable of generating 30 mA of drive current. As a result, this device is perfect for driving multiple inputs and for highspeed applications up to 100 MHz. Meanwhile, SN7417 devices have minimum breakdown voltages of 15 V and a maximum sink current of 40 mA. The SN7417 widely used for converting TTL voltage levels to MOS levels.
These TTL hex buffers and drivers feature high-voltage open-collector outputs that offer easy interfacing with high-level circuits (such as MOS) or for driving high-current loads (such as lamps or relays). These devices perform the Boolean function Y = A in positive logic. Meanwhile, these circuits are completely compatible with most TTL families. And also Inputs are diode clamped to minimize transmission-line effects, thereby simplifies design. This IC offers a typical power dissipation of 145 mW, and average propagation delay time of 14 ns.
A buffer designed basically as a logic gate that passes its input, unchanged, to its output. The main function of a buffer is to regenerate the input, usually using a strong high and a strong low. A buffer has one input and one output, in which its output is always equal to its input. Buffers IC also used to increase the propagation delay of circuits by driving the large capacitive loads. Whereas the Line drivers designed as a special type of buffer that has the ability to drive a transmission line or cable that may be quite long.
