The 75188 is a monolithic quadruple line driver that is meant to connect data terminals to data communications equipment. They comply with ANSI Standards EIA/TIA-422-B, as well as RS-485 and ITU. In many applications, this is accomplished by connecting a diode in series with each supply-voltage terminal. The Quadruple Line Driver IC 75188 is intended to operate in the whole military temperature range of 0 to 70 degrees Celsius. The 75188 is a 3-state output monolithic quadruple differential line driver. The 3-state outputs have a high-current capacity for driving balanced lines like twisted-pair or parallel-wire transmission lines, and they’re in a high-impedance state when the power is turned off.
The device is optimized for balanced multipoint bus transmission at up to 4 megabits per second. Each driver has a wide range of positive and negative common-mode output voltages, making it ideal for loud party-line applications. For protection against line fault circumstances on the transmission bus line, the 75188 has positive and negative current limiting as well as a thermal shutdown mechanism. Shutdown usually happens at a junction temperature of around 150°C. When used with the quadruple differential line receivers 75173 or 75175, this device performs well. 75188 is available in 14-pin PDIP broad body surface-mount plastic packaging. These line drivers IC devices are integrated circuit devices that separate the input and output circuits. Also reduces the load seen by the input circuit and enables signals to be sent on PCB or cables over longer distances with higher fan-out.
