Description

The AD633 is a four-quadrant, functionally full analog multiplier. It has a translinear core, a buried Zener reference, and a unity-gain linked output amplifier with a summing node that may be accessed. Voltage-to-current converters convert the differential X and Y inputs to differential currents. The multiplication core generates the commerce of those currents. A 10 V multiplier is provided by a buried Zener reference. The output amplifier is then fed the sum of (X Y)/10 + Z.

The AD633’s versatility is not hampered by its simplicity. The output buffer amplifier is accessed via the Z input. As a result, the user is able to add the outputs of two or more multipliers, so increasing the multiplier gain. Convert the output voltage to current, and set up a variety of applications. It also works in the commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C (J Grade) or the industrial temperature range of 40°C to +85°C (A-Grade)

The low impedance output voltage may be a nominal 10 V full scale provided by a buried Zener. The AD633 is the first product to offer these functionalities in an 8-lead PDIP and SOIC package at a reasonable price. The AD633 is laser calibrated to a total accuracy of twenty-two of full scale, which is guaranteed. During a 10 Hz to 10 kHz bandwidth, nonlinearity for the Y input is typically 0.1 percent, while noise in the output is typically 100 V RMS. The AD633 is helpful in a wide range of applications where simplicity and cost are important considerations, thanks to its 1 MHz bandwidth, 20 V/s slew rate, and ability to drive capacitive loads.

APPLICATIONS

  • Multiplication, division, squaring
