BMP180 based digital barometric pressure sensor is an upgraded version of BMP085. BMP180 combines barometric pressure, temperature, and altitude. This functions as an environmental sensor with temperature, barometric pressure designed explicitly for mobile applications. The sensor module is designed extremely as a compact package. Its small dimensions and low power consumption of 0.3uA make it ideal for battery-powered devices such as mobile phones, GPS modules, or watches. BMP180, designed based on Bosch’s proven Piezo-resistive pressure sensor technology. It features high accuracy, linearity as well as long-term stability, and high EMC robustness. The different functions such as power consumption, resolution, and filter performance make numerous device operation options offer the highest flexibility.
This sensor is ideal for a wide range of applications in weather sensing and communicates via the I2C interface protocol. This BMP180 high-precision sensor is available at an affordable price. It is defined as an ideal precision sensing solution for measuring barometric pressure from 300 to 1100hPa (+9000m to -500m relating to sea level) with an accuracy down to 0.02hPa (0.17m) in advance resolution mode. As the pressure changes with altitude and pressure measurements are so good, used for altitude measurement with ±1 meter accuracy. Meanwhile, as it supports SPI and I2C protocol can be accessed easily with a microcontroller, Arduino, or similar device. An Onboard 3.3V LDO regulator makes this board fully 5V supply compatible.
BMP180 offers an accuracy of 1m, with a noise of only 17cm in ultra-high-resolution noise. As the device operates over I2C we’ve added optional I2C pull-ups that can be enabled using the PU (pull up) jumper on the board for your convenience and ease during breadboarding.
