- Based on the W5100Based on the Wiznet W5100 allows an Arduino board to connect to the internet.
- Stackable Design, can directly be supported by Arduino official Ethernet Library.
- Supports up to four simultaneous socket connections
- Can be used to store files for serving over the network.
- Compatible with the Arduino Duemilanove (168 or 328), Uno as well as Mega (1280/2560).
- Can be accessed using the Mini SD TF library.
- The current shield has a Power over Ethernet (PoE) module designed to extract power from a conventional twisted-pair Category 5 Ethernet cable.
- IEEE802.3af compliant
- Low output ripple and noise (100mVpp)
- Overload and short-circuit protection
- 1500V isolation (input to output)
The Arduino Ethernet Shield is specifically intended to make connecting Arduino to the Internet as simple as possible. The Wiznet W5100 ethernet chip is supported. The Wiznet W5100 includes an IP stack that supports both TCP and UDP. Up to four socket connections can be made simultaneously with the Ethernet W5100 Shield Network Expansion Board w/ Micro SD Card Slot. Use the Ethernet library to create sketches that connect the shield to the internet. Long wire-wrap headers that extend through the shield link the ethernet shield to an Arduino board. This preserves the pin configuration and enables for the stacking of another shield on top.
The 1.0 pinout of the Arduino UNO board is exposed on the most recent iteration of the board. The Ethernet Shield links the Arduino UNO R3 board to the internet in a matter of minutes. To begin managing your environment over the web, just plug this module into your Arduino board, link it to your network with an RJ45 connection (not supplied), and follow a few simple instructions. allows you to connect an Arduino UNO 328 or MEGA 2650 1280 to a network or the internet, as well as read and write files to a Micro SD Card!
The Ethernet Shield has a normal RJ-45 connector, as well as an inbuilt line transformer and support for Power over Ethernet. There is an integrated micro-SD card slot for storing data to be served via the network. It works with both the Uno and Mega (using the Ethernet library). The SD Library gives you access to the onboard micro-SD card reader. SS is on Pin 4 when dealing with this library. A full-size SD card slot was included in the original edition of the shield; however, this is rarely supported.
