The L298 designed as an integrated monolithic circuit that comes in a 15- lead Multiwatt and PowerSO20 packages. These are high voltage, high current dual full-bridge driver explicitly to accept standard TTL logic levels and also to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC and stepping motors. This IC provides two enable inputs utilized to enable or disable the device independently of the input signals. Each bridge’s bottom transistors’ emitters are linked, and the appropriate external terminal is utilised to connect an external sensing resistor. There is also an auxiliary supply input so that the logic may operate at a lower voltage.
L298 defined as a high power version of L293 motor driver IC. L298 is basically used where H- BRIDGE is required. Also used where a high power motor driver is necessary. Â L298 IC designed specifically for high-power applications. Moreover, this IC also used where current control and PWM operable single-chip device required. The chip is preferred when the control unit can only provide TTL outputs. This Dual Full-Bridge Driver IC used to control the power devices like MOSFET or IGBT in full bridge configurations. The full-bridge gate driver IC consists of four channels in one package with two independent half-bridges, with shoot-through protection.
