LM1876 is a stereo audio amplifier IC designed as a high-performance audio power amplifier. With less than 0.1 percent THD+N, this power amplifier can produce up to 20W per channel of continuous average output power into a 4 or 8 load. Each amplifier features a separate fade-in/out mute with a smooth transition and a power-saving standby mode that may be controlled by external electronics.
Meanwhile, using the LM1876’s Self Peak Instantaneous Temperature (°Ke) (SPiKe) protection circuitry increased the LM1876’s performance. As a result, by offering an intrinsically dynamically protected Safe Operating Area, this IC is classified as discrete and hybrid amplifiers (SOA). These parts are totally shielded/protected at the output against overvoltage, undervoltage, and overloads, according to the spike protection function. Shorts to supplies, thermal runaway, and instantaneous temperature peaks are all included.
The IC LM1876 is a well-known integrated circuit that is employed in the audio sector. Battery-operated speakers are also commonly utilised to capture voice from a microphone. Under-voltage protection, over-voltage protection, spike protection, and thermal protection are all included in this LM1876 IC. The LM1876 IC has a muting function that allows the user to turn off the audio flowing into the amplifier by pulling only 0.5 mA from pin 8. The output current is limited to around 11A peak by the IC’s overvoltage safety circuitry. It also supports voltage clamping, but without the use of internal clamping diodes. The clamping effect is sort of an equivalent, however, the output transistors are designed to figure alternately by sinking large current spikes.
