The LM2577 Step-Up Voltage Regulator IC designed as a monolithic integrated circuits that provide all of the power and control functions for step-up (boost), flyback, and forward converter switching regulators. The device is capable of providing three different output voltage versions:12V, 15V, and adjustable.
LM2577 3A regulator steps up the input voltage from 3V ~ 34V to any high output voltage from 3.5V ~ 40V at a continuous current of 3A depending on the input-output voltage settings. Since it is a boost convertor the output voltage will be always higher than the input voltage. This boost converter provides excellent line and load regulation, as it is capable of driving a 3A load current. Under the condition when the output current exceeds 2A, a heat sink provided to avoid thermal damages.
This step-up power module booster is a low-cost module with over current and current limiting features. A built-in 3A efficient MOSFET switches enable to achieve an efficiency of up to 92%. Thus LM2577 offers better results and a low ripple factor. This step-up switching current (BOOST) module allows the use of small-capacity filter components compared with low frequency switching regulators. Thus module allows to reduce the overall board size to be smaller and thus helps for space-saving. Moreover, this voltage regulator features  52 kHz fixed-frequency oscillator that requires no external components, a soft start mode to reduce in-rush current during start-up. And also current mode control for improved rejection of input voltage and output load transients.
