These Magnetic Door open sensors are widely used in Home Alarm systems used as door or window security systems. This simple magnetic door lock sensor consists of a Magnet and a Magnetic Sensor. In the presence of the magnet, this simple switch within the sensor gets activated. In order to use this sensor as a door lock sensor, the magnet is mounted on the door/window and the magnet sensor on the door/window frame. This is an N/C type magnetic sensor in which the electrical circuit is ON when the magnet is away from the sensor means that the door is in the open position. When they move apart, the magnet sensor detects that the door/window opened.
This magnetic door lock sensor consists of 3 wire outputs and offers both normally open and normally closed operations. It provides one common wire and one normally open and one normally closed output wire. This sensor offers a wide range of applications in general magnet sensing applications, door lock sensors, drawer lock sensors, Window Lock Sensors, encoders, etc. The mounting tabs and holes for mounting it to a flat surface make the installation quite simple. The sensor also comes with double-sided tapes to stick the sensor onto a flat surface. The output generated when moved away from each other can be fed to the micro-controller to perform the desired action as per requirement.
This magnetic sensor is also used to trigger an alarm or ON/OFF light inside a cupboard sliding door. This wired sensor is triggered by the magnet. Under normal conditions, When the magnet is together, the circuit is conductive (light on). Whereas when the magnet separates, the circuit is not conductive (light off). This sensor operates only in low power ( less than 12 W) dc circuits. So it can not directly connect to the 230 v ac circuit. Hence we use a relay along with this sensor
