A GAS sensor or a GAS Detector is defined as a chemical sensor that detects/measures the concentration of gas in its vicinity. MQ135 sensor is ideal for detection or measuring of NH3, Sulphide, and Benzene steam, smoke and other harmful gases. It offers very good sensitivity and a fast response time makes it ideal such as used in air quality control types of equipment.
The MQ135 sensor operates at a voltage from 2.5V to 5.0V providing a lower conductivity to clean the air as a gas sensing material. But due to the pollution, the conductivity of the gas sensor increases as the concentration of polluting gas increases. It has the potential power to detect different harmful gases. The boost converter of the chip in this air quality sensor is PT1301.
MQ135 sensor is a Tin oxide semiconductor sensor designed explicitly to detect ammonia, nitrogen oxide, smoke, CO2, and other harmful gases. The air quality sensor can detect gas either by digital pin or by analogue pin. The digital low signal light is accessed through the IO ports on the Microcontroller. The analogue output is a concentration, i.e. increasing voltage is directly proportional to increasing concentration. By using the external load resistance the resistance variation is converted into a suitable voltage variation. A small potentiometer in this air quality sensor permits the adjustment of the load resistance of the sensor circuit. This sensor features long life, low cost, and reliable stability make it particularly suitable for Air quality monitoring applications.
Applications:
- Air quality monitor
- Detection of harmful gases
- Domestic air pollution detection
- Industrial pollution detection
- Portable air pollution detection
