The PIC18F4520 designed based on Microchip Technology. These are low-cost, high-performance, 8-bit, fully static, with Flash-based CMOS microcontrollers. These microcontrollers employ a RISC architecture with only 33 single-word/single-cycle instructions. This family offers the advantages of all PIC18 microcontrollers – namely, high computational performance at an affordable rate – with the addition of high-endurance, Enhanced Flash program memory. In addition, the PIC18F2420/2520/4420/ 4520 family introduces design enhancements that make these microcontrollers a logical choice for many high-performance, power-sensitive applications. PIC18F4520 is quite easy-to-use and also easy to remember instruction set reduces development time significantly.
This CMOS Microcontroller has 40 pins, with 36 of them being used as I/O pins. It also contains a Power-on-Reset (POR) feature as well as a Watch Dog Timer (WDT) that can be adjusted to 4 ms to 131 s. It also has an inbuilt oscillator with an 8Mhz frequency that is set to Power saving oscillator mode. Three programmable external interrupts and four Interrupts-On-Change (IOC) pins are included in the PIC18F4520 microcontroller IC, which are useful capabilities for interrupt-related applications. A 13-channel 10-bit ADC converter module is also included in the system. This IC has a wide operating voltage range of 2V to 5.5V, making it suitable for 3.3V or 5.0V logic level applications. This PIC microcontroller also has Power Management Features, which are important for low-power applications. It has 3 power management modes.
- RUN mode
- SLEEP mode
- IDLE mode
