The TEC1-12705 module is also known as Thermoelectric Cooler or 5A Peltier Module. These are the semiconductor-based electronic component that functions as small heat pump. This module works on the principle of the Peltier Thermoelectric Effect. The Thermoelectric Cooler module features 127 semiconductor couples in the area of 40mm x40mm. The TEC1-12705 module is effectively used to cool and heat up to 80° degree C. When you apply a DC power source to a TEC1-12705, heat is transferred from one side of the module to the other. It creates a cold and hot side. Depending upon the side you use, one of the sides gets hot and the other side gets cool. Hence these modules are used to heat up something or cool down.
Soon after you turn ON the tec1-12705 device, the hotter side starts heating quickly and the cooler side also cools quickly. In case if you do not remove the heat from the hot side using a heat sink or other device, the Peltier quickly reach stasis. Usually, we recommend using an old computer CPU heatsink or another block of metal to pull heat from the hot side of the thermoelectric cooler. Generally, we use a computer power supply and CPU heatsink to make the cold side so uncomfortable. This module features maximum heat pumping capacity, accuracy, and energy efficiency makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.
