SG5010 designed as a high-torque standard servo can rotate approximately 180 degrees with 90 degrees in each direction. Everyone also knows this SG-5010 servo for its high specs at a very affordable price with its compact size, lightweight, high-power output servo motor. This servo made of carbon fiber gear for added strength and durability. Carbon Fiber Gears which makes the servo motor much lighter than the same metal gear motor.
This SG5010 Servo rotates 90° in each direction, hence it is a 180° rotation servo. This digital servo motor receives and processes PWM signals faster. It consists of an internal circuitry that provides high torque, holding power, and faster updates in response to external forces. Hence high performance and reliability of our servos have made it the ideal choice for many RC hobbyists.
In the case of small load applications using the metal gear, the servo motor adds on unnecessary weight, so it is recommended using these lightweight plastic gear servo motors. Moreover, It also equips high-quality bearings that ensure smooth and reliable operations. SG5010 manufactured within a tight sturdy plastic case which makes them water and dust-resistant. Therefore widely used in RC planes, Boats, and RC Monster Trucks, etc. This digital servo motor consists of a 3-wire JR servo plug which is compatible with Futaba connectors too.
In order to control with an Arduino, highly recommended to connect the orange control wire to pin 9 or 10 and using the Servo library included with the Arduino IDE (see here for an example sketch). Position “0” (1.5ms pulse) is middle, “90” (~2ms pulse) is all the way to the right, “-90” (~1ms pulse) is all the way to the left. The default servo pulse widths (usually 1ms to 2ms) may not give you a full 180 degrees of motion. So set your servo controller to custom pulse lengths and try 0.75ms to 2.25ms.
