  • Shield type: Arduino Nano
  • Firmware: GRBL
  • Modular stepper motor drivers: 3
  • Limit switches: 6
  • Micro-stepping: 1/16
  • Coolant enable
  • Uses removable Pololu A4988 compatible stepper drivers. (A4988, DRV8825, and others) (Not Included)
  • Jumpers to set the Micro-Stepping for the stepper drivers. (Some drivers like the DRV8825 can do up to 1/32 micro-stepping )
  • Compact design.
  • Runs on 12-36V DC. (At the moment only the Pololu DRV8825 drivers can handle up to 36V so please consider the operation voltage when powering the board.)
  • Please note that this is an unassembled kit and needs soldering.
  • Latest Arduino CNC Shield Version 3.51

Description

This board serves as a driver expansion board for engraving machines, 3D printers, and CNC machines. This is the most recent extension board for the Arduino CNC Shield Version 3.51. This board has four slots and can thus drive four A4988 stepper motors. For good reason, the V3.51 is one of the most popular open-source CNC shields. It ticks all the boxes: it’s simple to set up and use, has all the features you’d expect, has excellent customer service, and is competitively priced.

It makes use of an Arduino Uno and runs on a 12-36 volt power source to run the motors. It is programmed with the GRBL Arduino CNC firmware. (GRBL firmware is simple to write on the Arduino and has a large community of users.) This shield can support up to four plug-in stepper motor drivers and can clone an axis if you wish to operate one axis with two motors.

There are additionally six header pins, two for each axis, providing up to six limit switches. Depending on the stepper drivers utilised, micro-stepping down to 1/32 is possible. Finally, jumpers may be used to configure the board’s micro-stepping, axis duplication, and step direction. Although software may adjust axis duplication and step direction, having the choice on the board is an advantage.
