Description

CD40106 designed as a Hex Schmitt trigger based on the monolithic complementary MOS (CMOS) technology integrated with P and N-type enhancement mode transistors. This IC belongs to the CD4000 IC series. It comprises of six Schmitt-Trigger inputs. Each circuit has a Schmitt-Trigger input and operates as an inverter. The positive and negative-going threshold voltages, VT+ and VT, in this IC demonstrate little fluctuation with temperature. Hysteresis is also assured with VT+ VT 0.2 VDD. In the meanwhile, the IC has ESD protection, low thermal dissipation, and input diode clamps to prevent the input pins from static discharge damage.

A Schmitt Trigger is a comparator-based circuit that produces an output based on the output of the prior gate. The input value of a Schmitt Trigger might be analogue or digital, but the output is always in one of two forms: 1 or 0. Any circuit may be converted to Schmitt trigger by using a positive feedback scheme. The threshold utilised to get the output of a Schmitt Trigger circuit, on the other hand. The output remains HIGH when the value exceeds the threshold. It will be deemed in the LOW condition otherwise. Not only are these circuits used to convert analogue to digital, but they also assist reduce noise from the signal.

The logical inverse of any input signal is generated by a hex inverter, which is intended as a basic digital logic circuit. When the input signal is low, the output of a hex inverter is always high (1). (0). When the input signal is high, a hex inverter always produces a low (0) output (1).

Applications:

  • Noise removing circuits
  • Debouncing circuits
  • Hysteresis controller
  • Dead band filter
