CD4018BE contains 5 Johnson-Counter stages, buffered Q outputs from each stage, and counter preset control gating. And also CLOCK, RESET, DATA, PRESET ENABLE, and 5 individual JAM inputs are provided. Divide by 10, 8, 6, 4, or 2 counter configurations often implemented by feeding the Q\5, Q\4, Q\3, Q\2, Q\1 signals, respectively, back to the info input. Whereas the divide-by-9, 7, 5, or 3 counter configurations are often implemented by the utilization of a CD4011B to gate the feedback connection to the data input. Divide-by functions are greater than 10 often achieved by use of multiple CD4018B units.
At the positive clock-signal transition, the counter is defined as an advanced one count. Furthermore, the Schmitt Trigger on the clock line allows for infinite clock rise and fall times. The counter is reset to zero when the RESET signal is strong. A high PRESET-ENABLE signal allows the counter to be preset using information from the JAM inputs. Anti-lock gating is included to ensure that the counting sequence is valid. As long as the load and cargo termination voltages help the Constant-Current-Sink driver, the op amp can give a low output voltage near the negative rail. CD4018BE is packaged in a 16-pin hermetic dual-inline hermetic plastic box.
