The IC CD4053 designed as a CMOS based high voltage Multiplexer and Demultiplexer IC. The IC widely used in circuit where MUX or a DEMUX required in a Programmable Logic circuit Design. These IC capable of handling handle both analog and digital voltages. Hence used in Analog to Digital and Digital to Analog converters.
Digitally controlled analogue switches with low “ON” impedance and very low “OFF” leakage currents, the CD4053 analogue multiplexers demultiplexers. Digital signal amplitudes of 315V can be used to control analogue signals up to 15Vp-p. For example, if VDD = 5V, VSS = 0V, and VEE = 5V, digital inputs of 05V can control analogue signals from 5V to +5V. Regardless of the logic state of the control signals, the multiplexer circuits dissipate extremely minimal quiescent power over the entire VDDVSS and VDDVEE supply voltage ranges. All channels are “OFF” when a logical “1” is present at the inhibit input terminal. The CD4053 is a triple 2-channel multiplexer with three digital control inputs (A, B, and C), as well as an inhibit input. Each control input selects one of two single-pole double-throw channels coupled in a single-pole double-throw configuration.
A multiplexer is a logic circuit that connects one or more input lines to a single common output line. The select lines decide which inputs are connected to which outputs, as well as how much data may be transferred over a network in a given amount of time. A combinational logic device that switches one common input line to one of several independent output lines is known as a decoder/demultiplexer. So, A demultiplexer is a device that converts a serial data signal to parallel data on its output lines.
