This is a complete GPS module that is based on the Ublox NEO-6M. The NEO-6 module series is designed as a stand-alone GPS receiver featuring the high-performance u-blox 6 positioning engine. This Ublox GPS module offers high flexibility and cost-effective receivers offering numerous connectivity options in a small compact sized package. NEO-6 modules are ideal for battery operated mobile devices due to their compact architecture, power consumption, and memory options.
This Ublox NEO-6M unit outputs the most accurate possible positioning information and includes a larger built-in 25 x 25mm active GPS antenna with a UART TTL socket. An inbuilt battery is used to obtain a GPS lock faster. This updated GPS module version is used with ardupilot mega v2. Hence provides the best possible position information, ensuring better performance with Ardupilot or other Multirotor control platforms.
The Ublox NEO-6M GPS engine on this board offers high precision binary output. It also features high sensitivity for indoor applications. The inbuilt battery in the module is used for power backup and EEPROM for storing configuration settings. The antenna connected to the module via a ufl cable offers flexibility in mounting the GPS such that the antenna will always see the sky for best performance. This makes it powerful for wide usage in various applications such as cars and other mobile applications. The u-blox 6 positioning engine offers a 50-channel that boasts a Time-To-First-Fix (TTFF) of under 1 second. This GPS module provides a serial TTL output, and it has four pins: TX, RX, VCC, and GND. Using the u-centre software the GPS can be configured and settings can be done.
